Collection: Spoon Warmers

Just in, this is an exceptional and rare late 19th-century Victorian novelty silver-plated spoon warmer, realistically modeled in the distinct form of a paneled nautical or marine buoy.
The conical, ribbed buoy body features a ring finial to the top and a scooped opening designed to hold hot water and rest serving cutlery.
The vessel is beautifully anchored bon a highly textured naturalistic rocky outcrop mound base.

Originally introduced during the height of Victorian dining culture, these pieces were filled with boiling water at the dining table to keep large serving spoons and gravies from congealing.
This iconic maritime design is highly sought after by collectors of antique novelty silver and nautical curiosities.
Originally patented in England on November, 1868.
This spoon warmer has been recently re silver plated.
Very good antique condition, consistent with age and use.
