This dish is marked in hollow, Mafra Calda da Rainha. This large lGreen Leaf is Stacked heavily on top of the base with life-sized, high-relief fruits.
The Palissy fruit dish represent a historical intersection between two masters of Portuguese ceramicists, from Caldas da Rainha: Manuel Cipriano, Gomes Mafra (1829-1905) & Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro.
Both artists heavily relied on the 16th-century "Palissy Ware" invented very early on in the late 16Th C. by Bernard Palissy.
Very good antique condition, consistent with age and uses.
