This is an exceptional 19th-century Chinese export black lacquer sewing work table.
This is a Chinese export black lacquer sewing work table that is heavily decorated with gold raised lacquer of traditional Chinoiserie accents.
Crafted during the Qing Dynasty primarily for Western markets like Britain
The exterior features finely detailed, raised hand-painted gold Chinoiserie scenes depicting traditional pagodas, figures, and landscapes.
The hinged rectangular top opens to reveal a fitted interior compartment tray meant for storing sewing supplies. Or can also be used as a Vanity.
The beautiful top is supported by elegant, openwork lyre-form legs connected by a turned baluster cross stretcher.
The base rests on intricately carved and gilded animal paw feet.
Very good antique condition, consistent with age and use.
