This item is an antique French Majolica Barbotine asparagus and artichoke serving platter, handcrafted by Poterie du Mesnil de Bavent in Normandy, c. 1890-1910 Design FeaturesTheme: The high-relief sculptural decoration depicts a naturalistic trompe-l'œil scene of purple-tipped white asparagus stalks and layered artichoke heads blanketed by flowing emerald green foliage. This large Majolica platter is in very good to excellent condition, consistent with age and use. No crazing, no chips or repairs.
